NRA Refuse To Be A Victim

For Non-Security Personnel

A non-firearm personal safety course, this training teaches practical strategies to reduce vulnerability to crime in everyday life. Topics include situational awareness, home security, travel safety, and personal protection habits.

About This Training

Personal safety starts with awareness, not weapons. The NRA's Refuse To Be A Victim course is a non-firearm safety training designed to help Tennessee residents reduce their vulnerability to crime through practical, real-world strategies that anyone can apply immediately. Topics include situational awareness, home and apartment security, travel safety, workplace safety, online safety, and personal protection habits for everyday life.

This course was developed by the NRA specifically for individuals who want to improve their personal safety without necessarily owning or carrying a firearm, making it a great fit for families, college students, seniors, and community groups across Tennessee. The curriculum draws on real crime prevention research and law enforcement expertise to teach practical habits that measurably reduce risk.

This popular Tennessee self-defense and safety course is ideal for individuals, families, and community organizations looking to build confidence and awareness in their daily lives.
